Easy place to get into on a Saturday night around 6:30pm. Parked right out front (meters were off, yah!) Discovered we had 30 minutes left before happy hour was over. Another yay! Female blond server was really nice, engaging without being over bearing. We had the kale quinoa salad with salmon, which was cooked perfectly. We also had the beef sliders. Both were good and it was plenty of food for the two of us. $5 HH patron margaritas were good as was "The Ned" Sauvignon Blanc. This had a quiet upscale ambiance, which is nice if you are not into the noisy, scream in your ear typical bar eatery scene on Ventura Ave. I will definitely go back and bring my older friends to enjoy the outdoor space and jazz as I know they would appreciate it. It was a good date spot...the host joked that my date had secretly called ahead and gave him a $50 for a good table, and asked if he had bought the ring yet...it all encouraged the romantic/date vibe. It was cute. Little did he know we were nowhere near that far along in our relationship which made for a bit of a laugh for the two of us. Go check it out.

My best friend and I were meeting up for a chill girls nite. We wanted to try a new place. I read the reviews on yelp and decided on epic. The reviews are so accurate. This place is great. Not only did they have live jazz (which they have every night), the food and drinks were really good too. There weren't very many people when we arrived bc we got there right when they opened, so they let us pick where we wanted to sit. The chef and hostess came over to the table and personally welcomed us and our server was very sweet. Will definitely be back!!!!

Came here after looking at the Yelp reviews and all I can say is 100% accurate. Ambiance is on point starting from outside with the fire lounge and the inside with the live band. Got the bacon wrapped shrimp and its the first time my bacon was crispy and shrimp fully cooked and succulent. Patron margarita happy hour had me floating by the end of the first drink. I recommend anyone to eat here if your looking for a casual atmosphere and good food.

Came here for a night to remember, girls night out. Our night started with a nice walk to the second floor from a free parking lot downstairs. As your walking towards and through the entrance of trees, lights, firepits, and welcomed by the hosts "inside or outside" with a smile. As we're entering the lounge our "girls night out transformed to an epic jazz night in. The venue has dim lighting, can be a nice place for a romantic night with a loved one or a night to impress your date. The food is gourmet. We had a burger, panini, and risotto accompanied with portobello mushroom and shrimp wrapped in bacon. And of course you can't have an epic girls night without drinks! ;) Now for the thumbs down, unfortunately there isn't a young vibe here. The mushrooms were tasteless and bland, a bit overwhelming having no flavor. The shrimp wrapped in bacon was dry. My risotto was a bit undercooked. We asked for sweetened shot and the waiter said something around pineapple but we got coconut, ewk. I would have preferred to have been informed of the change from pineapple to coconut and have changed my order instead. The service was great and attended well by whom I think was the manager in addition to our server. Somewhere within our dinner a woman approached our table asking if we yelped and informed us that if we gave them a review we'd get a free cheesecake, lol People that explains the positive reviews from so many. Overall the venue was perfect for me since I enjoy live jazz music and the decor was beautiful, however the food wasn't all that. I expected to eat and drink what I paid for, it didn't match. Last but not least what dropped my 5 star entrance to a 3 star exit was that I ordered a Mariella Syrah Rose and instead I was served a Stella Rosa Black, now that is a shame, an $11 glass of what I didn't order when I can buy the bottle for 20 in the market. I dared not to ruin our night out to complain for the sake of who I was with , but I'm sure letting all yelpers informed this happened. I might come back or not.

This place is great for a nice classy dinner with some jazz accompaniment. Specially, with a group of friends and even better for a romantic dinner. The ambience and the environment are very classy and dim lit for a nice feel. The place is very well designed and the bar is expectacular. The food is amazing, dessert is great. The food is organic grass feed beef and the wine helps to top off the tasty dishes. This joint is highly recommended and has a definite 2 thumbs up. Most go.

Nice location and the indoor and outdoor seating are both inviting. We chose the outdoor and had a pleasant evening. We couldn't hear the live jazz that is indoors but the music they played over the speakers was quite enjoyable. All the food was good to excellent - salads, chicken liver appetizer, steak and the gnocchi. Not sure how long this place will stay open, though, as we were there from 6-9 on a Saturday night and it was pretty empty. We'd go again.

A little expensive menu but you are paying for the quality and taste. Good ambiance, friendly staff. There is also a live jazz band inside and live music outside by the patio. Nice place to unwind.

Came here for a birthday celebration and reservations was made through Open Table. I made a note when making the reservation that this was for a birthday celebrant. Anyways, got to the restaurant and it was pretty much empty. Although the hostess informed us that there was a film crew for Hollywood Divas and told us that if we were to eat in the dining area, we would have to sign a waiver. So it was either eat in the lounge/bar area or outside overlooking Ventura Blvd on a chilly night. So I decided to go outside because there are actual tables and just hope the heaters will keep us warm. Here's what we ordered: Drinks - Cucumber Mojito & Red wine to start Appetizers - Grilled octopus Entrees - Rib Eye with a side of garlic mashed & braised short ribs with risotto Sot the drinks took about 10-15 minutes just to come out. Mind you, this a Wednesday night in an empty restaurant. Can't understand why it took that long to pour wine and make a mojito. The grilled octopus took another 10 minutes after we received our drinks. It wasn't bad, but I feel ripped off paying $15 for just 2 tentacles with a bunch of veggies. Then we waited another 20 minutes for the main entree to come out. At this point it was getting close to 9pm and we are starving and the octopus didn't help at all. It would have been nice for them to give us complimentary bread, but no, that's another $7. The short ribs were tender and the risotto tasted like eating spaghetti with basil and parm. It was actually good. The rib eye was a very thick, I mean thick cut. it was probably about 3 inches thick. Now I understand why it our food took so long. Because of the thick cut, my medium piece of meat came out medium rare. I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to wait any longer. It would have been nice if the cut was thinner so that I can appreciate the marbling of the rib eye. That is the best part of a rib eye. The only good thing about the cut was that it had a nice crust on it. Although a little on the burnt side. It did come with a side of gravy/sauce. The sauce had good flavor. It was probably the best part of the meal. The steak wasn't tender or juicy at all. Now I'm wondering if that was even a rib eye??? The garlic mashed was pretty good also. Didn't mind paying $8 for that side. As I mentioned above, this dinner was for a birthday celebration. Our server didn't even acknowledge or asked us if we were here to celebrate special occasion. I will however give this place 4 stars for the ambiance and decor of the restaurant. The setup makes for a great summer hangout for drinks. Other than that, I don't see myself coming back here. One thing I forgot to mention was that when the hostess sat us, she mentioned that they were known for their Italian steaks. I really don't know what the difference is, but if that was an Italian steak, I will just stick with good Ole US of A meat.

I love this place! We had a huge wrap party here recently and the venue, the service and the food were outstanding! The outdoor seating areas, heat lamps, TV's and fire pit made it really fun to hang out outside. And the place is huge inside and we were able to customize the area to fit the needs of our party. I highly recommend this restaurant/bar for any party or just for a night out. A+++++++

  • Mario Q.

Okay, so the ambiance is totally what everyone is raving about for this place. The patio area is so cozy and relaxing that you might just want to take your shoes off. The lighting, the view, the fire pit, and live music will make you feel like the you belong among "the Rich and Famous". My GF and I started off with the Portebella mushroom appetizer which was one of the best I've in a long time. I ordered the bone in ribeye and my GF ordered the sea bass. Both were mouth watering and as usually, I overate because of there generous portions. Ribeye was really good!!! Now, if you're fortunate to have Jenn as your waitress, well then it's the next best thing to winning the lottery. She has some great recommendations like the cucumber mojito, which is a must, GF had two. Overall a great place to come check out with friends, like the party across from us which was a birthday party, or with someone special.

Nice place, lovely interior, but... The music: The singer girl should definitely seek a career change. Absolutely no voice whatsoever! She was struggling to produce sounds, with no soul, no energy, no heart. The food: not the best, mediocre, overpriced. Lobster pasta was fine, wouldn't recommend the hamachi appetizer. The service: my husband and i loved one of the signature cocktails, the jalapeño pineapple martini. We had maybe 7 of those. However, the last one was too spicy. So we asked the waitress to have it changed. Instead of making us another drink, the barman pored some frozen pineapple juice on our drink and gave it back!!! It ended up being watery and tasted like ice and juice concentrate. That was not the best ending to our dinner. If you go to a classy place and pay a over $200 for a dinner for 2 you can at least expect the management to take care of a drink that their bartender made wrong. I don't think we'll be going back there anytime soon.

Ate here last night and one word comes to mind. POTENTIAL! the atmosphere and vibe is great. The outdoor patio is amazing and the perfect setting for a romantic evening or drinks with friends. The staff is friendly but the operation isn't as smooth and fluid as more established spots. Appetizers took a while to come out and so did drinks. But I didn't really mind considering I had a great view from next to a fire pit on the patio. The food is good as well but the menu is somewhat limited which I could understand for a true "bar and lounge" but this place is setup more like a restaurant. I would suggest lowering the price point and expanding the menu or moving more toward a traditional lounge business model. This place could be a great new treasure in the Valley with the right management. To the owners: I have a degree is marketing if you would like some help I would be glad to help get this place off the ground. Shoot me an response with contact info.

Yelpers, you have failed me. I came her with a girlfriend on a Tuesday night, it seemed like a nice place. We came after work and were starving. I got a strange vibe from who I think was the owner the moment I walked in to be seated. The crowd seemed a bit older and the place was nearly empty. Their menu was pretty small and we started with a drink. I ordered a Moscow Mule and hoped that since it was one of the few cocktails listed and was $12 that they would nail it. *Sigh*...they did not. There was live music going, so we stayed to finish our overpriced drinks. First thing I noticed on the table was the list of "rules" in regards to their upcoming Jam Session. I got bored reading it after #2 and thought it was quite ridiculous and a total mood killer for the event, I'll pass. The band playing was pleasant, I guess Jazz is the theme for this place and they are required to sing ONLY Jazz. A customer requested James Dean- That's Amore. After it finished the overbearing owner came over to the band and in a snarky tone announced that "Italian night is over, back to the a Jazz". Real Classy. At this point between the $12 drinks, the obnoxious owner and the costly prices of the entrees we had no desire to stick around and order food. Don't get me wrong, I will pay a pretty penny for dinner, in fact after leaving this place we drove down the street and spent about $100 on dinner elsewhere but Epic didn't deserve our money. * Also- It seems pretty obvious that most of their reviews are from friends, since most are from new accounts that have only reviewed Epic. Real noob move Epic. Epic Fail.

When you've had a bad day and you take it out on your waiter...I am there. When you order your steak medium rare but you don't know what medium rare means so you complain to a manager...I am there. I'm the guy that calls you on your bullshit. I am Batman. Wait...that's not right. Anyway...where was I? Oh OK... I'm the guy that yelps about yelpers who sh*t on my favorite businesses and today will NOT be an exception. Without any further adieu, let's kick this pony. _______ Dear J.B., You've been to Epic 3 times. The 1st time it was "great!", the second time it was pretty good, the 3rd time you realized that you have to pay extra for your a la carte sides and you decided to give the restaurant 1 STAR? What the literal f***? You know what? I have a theory about you. My theory is that you have to be slow...like a slow adult...right? I'm right....right?. This is just a theory mind you. I mean you're either a slow adult or a moron....but I'm not sure what the difference is. Wait...hold the front door. What if you are retarded? Like literally have mental retardation? Well if that's the case...I'm sorry for blowing up. I don't need people with pitchforks coming to kick me in the nuts. I'm just sayin....Your justification for why you should have potatoes with your steak is nothing short of f***ing hilarious. Dude...You are literally angry because potatoes are described in the menu under the a la carte section and because you normally eat steak and potatoes together...you're assuming that your steak comes with potatoes. Let me give you a restaurant life hack. Read the god d*** menu! Reading...that's right. You do it top to bottom, left to right. It's soooooo easy unless...oh dear lord...I'm so sorry. I completely forgot that you're slow....Forget what I said...of course you can't read. My apologies. By the way dude...chill it with the catch phrases..."Epic...more like Epic Fail...amirite? I eat my own sh** by the way". You're the not first person who wrote a crappy review about a place because they thought they had a clever pun or catch phrase on the name of the restaurant. It doesn't make you clever. It makes you a d**k. _______ Dear Brian G., These are direct quotes from you...which I would like to break down: "What kind of bar is "out of" three of the four drinks you order?" Well Brian...I don't know why they were "out of the drinks you ordered"...but judging by your d**kish behavior on yelp maybe I can guess the problem?...Perhaps try and not order 4 drinks with the same base ingredient that they already told you they were out of? "Uhh...I'll have a Johnny Walker Blue label and coke. Oh you're out of Blue label? How about a JW Blue Label and sprite? Oh you're out of Blue Label? How about a JW Blue label on the rocks? Neat?" I'm kidding though...Judging by your tacky yelping you probably can't afford Blue Label. "And, the one drink we did manage to order was very weak, as if it contained half the booze it should have. " Look here, you lush. A good bartender makes a drink taste good with alcohol...Who the hell knows what weird ass drink you were ordering that it took you 5 tries to find a drink that they make? Lucky for you I have a bar-hack for you. You go to a bar unhappy, you're going to leave unhappy. Write that sh*t down...because I'm sure it will come in handy. __________________________________ On to my review: Holy sh** this place is big. Like.... its a big ass restaurant for being right on Ventura Blvd. Like if the Apocalypse happens....I'm taking this place as my compound. Also...its super nice...I've been in this restaurant several years ago (it had a different name) and it did not look like it does now. It's super nice now. Kudos...I felt like I was in Rome...and when I'm in Rome I wear a toga...and when I wear a toga...I don't wear underwear. Tell your friends. I started with the burrata...I gotta be honest...I don't know what a burrata is....I'm a man...I eat manly things...This didn't seem manly...but my wife ordered it so...whatever...I'm down. For serious. The buratta made we want to start ordering girly foods everywhere I go. I've straight up been missing out. It was the teets. We also had the Polenta. I ordered it because I'm an insecure male and Polenta sounds manly...I thought it could be the insides of a Deer or possibly Bear meat. It is neither...Actually, I still don't know what Polenta is...but it made me want to be a better person. That's how good it was. I volunteered at a soup kitchen the next day...THAT'S HOW GOOD IT WAS! I had some other stuff. It was good. My wife enjoyed whatever lady foods she ate. The music was classy...which made my getting drunk on wine even classier...which obviously proves that my wine wasn't "weak". ISN'T THAT RIGHT, Brian G!? Myth.... Busted.... 10 stars.

This place is a joke. Overpriced for sure, but the kicker is finding a bandaid in your appetizer and alerting the staff only to be accused of planting it there. Nothing about me or my date would give the appearance of doing something like that. The manager was a total asshole! I was this close to punching the guy in the face. We left and the guy still tried getting me to pay even saying he would call the police. Sorry, not paying for our drinks, the calamari or the band aid, bro. Will never come here again.

I came this restaurant for me and my boyfriend's anniversary. He picked it and boy was it a great choice! This place uses organic ingredients from local farms. That's plus in my book. To Start, we ordered the stuffed Portobello mushrooms. They were so so good. Probably one of the best i've had. For my main course I ordered the Blackened salmon which was delicious! !!! My boyfriend ordered the Shrimp Risotto. That was good too but i loved my salmon. To finish the night we had a yummy White Sangria and the cheesecake which was a little piece of heaven. I will definitely come back.

The food was great, my two friends and I started off with the bacon wrapped shrimp as an appetizer and it was delicious ! The server was friendly, the ambience of the outside patio was nice, although the music they were playing was a little un-lively but other than that all three of us had a good time dinning there.

Went here recently for a wrap party, and it was the perfect venue. Lots of space - both inside and outside. Different rooms with different bars, dancing area. Very classy, elegant place. Food was great, very flavorful. Drinks were interesting and strong. I love that the outdoor area is just as big as the indoor area. Kevin, the owner, is really nice! Congenial guy. All around, great vibe, great place. I will DEF be coming back!

My bff finally asked me where i want to go for my post birthday celebration and since ive been seeing and reading about Epic i wanted to go to experience it for myself. My first thought of walking in the patio was Gorgeous! Fire pit was on, decor, chairs and sofa was cozy, perfect weather i was really excited! Our server was Bianca and may I say she was fabulous! We ordered mango and peace margarita, sliders, mushrooms app and 4 shots of patron it was delish! And may I add, since it was my birthday they gave me a complimentary cheesecake which was TO DIE FOR! Im still day dreaming about that cheesecake ha ha! What was cherry on top of the customer service we recieved this evening, it was incredible customer service and will def come back.

I have literally lived down the street from this place for 10 years I never visited. Is technically under new management now and it's supposed to be different than it was before. Regardless, I just discovered it and was very pleased. I really love the atmosphere and the way place looks in general. It is currently still being discovered and I'm sure it's going to take off very soon so better enjoy it before it gets taken over by the typical Sherman Oaks bar crowd. I will definitely be back.

The AC needs some work, but this trendy spot is a great go to place if you are in the area, premium bar average prices. Wonderful patio area and bar.Small room for live music, but regretably it cant be heard from the patio..not sure if that is a city reg or an othersight that can be fixed by the owners..

Went to the Yadagive launch party here. The build out is beautiful, with a nice terrace setting that offers a roof top view of Ventura. The back lit bar stocks premium pours and there is a small room for live music. Friendly staff, and an welcome addition to the hood.

Epic is a new favorite. Everything we ordered was fantastic. We'll definitely be back. Swordfish, salmon and the lobster buccatini were so delicious. And the side of Italian roasted cauliflower and Brussel sprouts and the octopus starter were the best I've had. Our server was Lindsey who really knew the menu and made our experience even better.

Promising start with this place. We enjoyed the wagyu sliders with truffle fries as we only shared an appetizer. Would definitely come back and try some more items on their menu as it sounds pretty good. Bartender who served us was friendly and provided us good service.

The service is amazing. The atmosphere is calming and the jazz band seems to take you away from the fast past la life. A must go to place if you simply want to relax with a drink or have a meal. Which by the way the Filet Mignon Panini is by hands down one of the best panini's I've had. I came in for a nice meal and drink and I wasn't thinking much of the place but the service and food quality (not to mention the Cucumber Mojito which is amazing) I'll defiantly be coming back offend.

First time visit. No expectations. It was amazing. Vee bartender / owner made some killer drinks. Food was exceptional. Valley peeps local bar and lounge a must try. Must try the: Jalapeño Pineapple not on the menu, Moscow Mule my drink of choice and the Cucumber Mojito. Cheers. Until next time.

Incredible ambience, exceptional service, and mouth watering food. This place has been open since August and I regret that it's November and I'm just experiencing it. The Chilean sea bass was a hit but the rib eye took the cake. Tender, cooked perfectly, and accompanied by the tastiest potatoes and mixed veggies. Would definitely come back and recommend to all our friends & family. Bravo.

So so service. Horrible food. The bathroom was dirty and hardly had any soap in the dispenser. But it is the valley. Expectations weren't that high to begin with. Our burgers were too well done. We sent it back and it was still well done. Our rib eyes were either too well done or not cooked enough. Also no flavor on our steaks. First and last time here. Far too many other good food joints on Ventura Blvd...

Went last Saturday night. The service was a little slow, but the food was delicious! We had dishes that ranged from the short ribs, lobster, salmon to the mashed potatoes (ridiculously good!) The comments from everyone in our party were outstanding! The owner, who was nothing short of fabulous, heard we had 2 birthdays in our party, and had the waitress come over with a bottle of champagne and with complimentary desserts. He noticed that there were no candles and had her return to the kitchen so he could put them in! He is a class act, just like the restaurant! Thank you for a lovely evening! Looking forward to going back.

This place is horrendous. Read all the reviews and the praise... I don't get it! The food was less than mediocre; they chill their red wine. The food was not cooked completely. The live music was too much!!! Was not an enjoyable dinner. I would never recommend this place. These reviewers need to go to a place where four stars mean something... I never wanted to leave a restaurant as bad as this place...

I found this place through filtering Yelp reviews by rating, and I have to say that I'm a little stumped by the mixed reviews. Another user mentioned that the 4-star rating it has is fake, and I'm starting to believe it. I came here with my boyfriend for a fun evening and a tasty dinner. I got the buccatini (lobster in noodles with butter and mixed veggies and sun-dried tomatoes) and my boyfriend got the papperdelle (lamb meat bolognese with handmade noodles). I also got the white wine sangria, and we shared the pane rustico ( in-house bread with ricotta, honey and walnuts). The bread was fantastic, the drink was very sweet and weak, and the pasta dishes were pretty good, but nothing super memorable. What WAS memorable was the terrible service. After what felt like being shunned for not making a reservation, we "HAD to" sit outside in the cold when we arrived just before 8, but they did kindly accommodate us with a space heater. Within 10-15 of sitting down, we ordered our dinner. Pasta should be relatively quick, right? And although I was wearing a jacket and had space heaters near me, I was cold and decided I would like to take a blanket that they had offered me as we were getting seated. I asked 2 separate waiters for it and it never came (neither did an explanation as to why I didn't receive one!) After waiting and getting real hungry, my boyfriend finally looked at the clock to see it was 8:50! We had easily waited over 40 minutes to receive our pasta dishes, and we were starving. When it came we were underwhelmed and were ready to leave about 20 minutes after receiving the food. No one checked on us after giving us the meal, and no one even approached the patio for that entire time, and I really wanted some salt and pepper and a blanket too! My boyfriend and I are not antsy diners, but what we got for how long we waited made it all worse. Then boyfriend asked for the check and that took another 15 mins to come around to us, we just handed them the card without waiting for them to set it on the table. Needless to say, I wont come back. Waste of my time for the prices and experience.

If you want amazing ambiance then epic is the place be. Out door heaters chill music and a fire place makes this place cozy and intimate. The food is creative but still seems very healthy. I would definitely recommend this place for a date or a large group, u will not be disappointed.

Just finished eating here for the first time, and it was indeed epic. The patio is on the second floor, with christmas lights around the edge, an open roof and sides, a gorgeous fire pit burning in the middle, and fire lamps around the edges. It was so serene and vibey and beautiful--really felt like a retreat from couped up city life. In addition, the service was impecable. Our server was sweet, smart, and attentive. The food was delicious and reasonably priced (we got fresh mussels for $16, a chicken panini with fries and pomegranate-infused ketchup for $14, made-to-order donut holes with chocolate-whiskey sauce for $9, and margaritas for $12). We also enjoyed their bread, which came with a honey-cinnamon butter that was delicious. Overall, wonderful environment, wonderful food, and wonderful service. But then it got better.. As we were leaving, we decided to look around inside since we had eaten on the patio. The place is beautiful. Seriously well-decorated, trendy, and well-lit. In addition, there were two musicians playing a stand-up bass and a guitar in the corner, and I'm a sucker for good, live, smooth jazz. There's a large banquet hall in the back that can probably hold 150 or so people for private or corporate events. The whole place is pretty large and spacious and can probably hold several hundred people. At that point, the manager came up and asked us about our experience, which was great. He then introduced us to one of the owners named Vee, who shook our hand and, upon finding out that we were celebrating my start of grad school, proceeded to get my husband and I drinks in celebration. If you go, try to meet and talk to him--he is an awesome guy with great stories! In addition, the bartender made us two of the most delicious drinks (called California Dreamin') that I've ever had. This place is brand new and doing it right--I can see this becoming an entertainment industry hot spot for people to meet for drinks or just to hang out. They also have TVs and would provide a more upscale location for watching sports games with friends. Or, like my husband and I had, it is a great place to escape for a perfectly balanced date night. Five stars!

Loved it! The ambiance is beautiful. Had excellent service. I also enjoyed the live jazz. It's a great place for couples. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp, mixed melon salad and the house made Zeppole for dessert. All of it was excellent!!

Wagyu burger was bomb! Risotto was a little bit undercooked and service was a little slow. I guess understandable because we went on a Friday night. We got a free cheesecake though so that's a plus.:)

Excellent service, but my salmon smelled gross. I sent it back and ate a ceasar instead. The servers are great!

Please be advised my inkling is to give all businesses the most positive review I can. I like the entrepreneurial spirit and always take negative reviews with a grain of salt. We called Epic because the restaurant we were going to had an emergency. The Yelp reviews are positive and the over all rating is very high. The hostess took our reservation and was very polite and professional. The only issue was: the place was 90% empty when we walked in. Why the charade? Just tell me to come in. I don't care if it's empty on a Wednesday night, I've had plenty of good meals in empty restaurants. The staff is fine and attentive, the decor is a little perfunctory (think Marriott lounge circa 1995) but pleasant enough. The drinks were as ordered. Here is where the trouble starts: The food: 3 of the 5 items we ordered were borderline inedible. The hamburgers were MURDERED, not that the meat would have been any better served medium, the brioche bun was tired, the cheese was stiff and unmelted. The fries were standard food-service grade, but not terrible. The Mussels died of natural causes. I should have suspected something from the server's body language when we asked about them. The were DRY, chewy and inedible. They should not have been served. The thing is, when restaurants struggle, the staff starts to fall away because the tips get worse and worse as the kitchen issues mount. In the end, they try to steer customers towards the items that have the fewest problems. That's Epic. I really wish them well and hope that they can fix their issues. They need a new kitchen program. These are not incidental issues they are major breakdowns.

Some really good food... Just upset that it was probably some of the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant. We came with a party of ten and the waiter for our table only came around three four times in a three hour time span. When we tried to pay, one of our members had a gift card to pay with but there seemed to be an issue with it. Asked the manager to help us with it and the response we got is, " you need to figure that out yourself.". Didn't expect him to bend over backwards but was hoping for the smallest level of customer service

I went here for a work Christmas party and we had a great time. The decor was very chic, and the dim lighting and tiki lights made it very relaxing. There was live music and a beautiful lounge area outside. The food was amazing! Very well plated, large portions for being so upscale. Champagne was smooth. The chef even came out to greet us and asked how our experience was, which you don't see happen that often, so we knew they really wanted us to enjoy ourselves. If I had the money, I'd be back much more often!

Great ambiance, good cocktails and the service is very accommodating. The menu is varied with a good selection of starter entries. They have a small selection of dinner choices but interesting options within their menu. They also provide nice music, from piped in music to live entertainment.

Nice place good setting, nice music and good food. A little pricey. $9 for a water was a little ridiculous. But a nice place.

Your positive reviews are clearly skewed and biased. One of my friends is an acclaimed food critic whose opinion people pay for and respect, said the same thing I said regarding the quality of your food. You should stand by your opinion that your food is quality- you're in business! What I had that night was NOT wagyu and it most certainly was NOT buffalo mozzarella - also, it still does not mean the food didn't come out cold! Please, keep your cheesecake. Buyers beware, and enter at your own risk.

I came here at the recommendation of friends. Really great place to take a date and just have some nice conversation one on one. It's on the second floor and is very intimate with a nice fire pit lounge area in the courtyard. I would recommend sitting there. I heard it was a great place for live music too but was kinda disappointed there wasn't one that night. We came for happy hour and had the sliders, fries, and sausages. They were quite delicious, so most definitely will order it again. Our waitress I think her name was Bianca was extremely sweet and accommodating. I'm not much of a drinker so I did feel bad that she kept having to bring out the Big-O metal jug of water for me. The service was great and I met the gm who was very helpful. Overall just a beautiful atmosphere, helpful staff, and I will be coming back here again soon.

  • Greg M.

Where did all these positive reviews come from. Something smells fishy to me and it wasn't the food or drinks we ordered. It was overpriced for drinks and food. I have been to a lot of places and i will say my drink didn't taste of what i actually ordered. 1 you can not bribe me to write a good review for you and then i get a free dessert and 2 don't pour cheap booze into premium bottle and think that people are to stupid to notice. I have never seen this place busy and from going there now i know why.

  • Eric S.

Live around the corner and was drawn to this place by their curb appeal. We went around 6p to discover there was a nice happy hour special going on. I think it's a great place for dates and groups. The sliders and truffle fries were amazing. Highly recommend getting them. Bianca was our server and she was great, friendly, and attentive. Will definitely be back!

Awesome romantic atmosphere. Being a native Sherman Oaks gal this is the perfect cool, hip romantic vibe with amazing menu. Fun for me...promises fun for you! They even have cozy blankets to snuggle up with if your outside surrounded by these torch like heatlamps. Cant recommend it miore....

  • Sewa N.

It was okay, our food was okay but our waiter Claudia was very nice and friendly but that was it. Everyone else who worked there was so cold and unfriendly. I don't know if this is one of those places where u need to be wearing Versace Versace Versace for anyone to look u in the eye or I'm just asking for too much? Either way I wasn't impressed I'd rather make a nite out of it and go to like R&D in Santa Monica. Or go anywhere else really!!

  • Crystal B.

Nice place to enjoy dinner and drinks. Fun little band played while we dined on good food, but unfortunately, they were way too loud to carry on any kind of conversation. Ordered the Waygu Burger and the Sea Bass, both were very well prepared. Not the best I've ever had but definitely good. Wanted to enjoy the creme brule cheesecake but the top just tasted burnt and the cheesecake part was bland. Service was excellent, with friendly staff who catered to all of our request.

  • Jen P.

I never actually had the chance to dine here, as I was upset because the first time I tried to eat here I was told there were no tables available & I saw that only the outside patio was occupied & the rest of the restaurant was completely empty. My previous review explained this & the only reason I'm editing my review is because they reached out to me to rectify the situation. At least customer service points increased. Otherwise I can't say much about this place except the patio looks nice & comfortable. Maybe you can try it out & have a better experience than I.

  • Goshik G.

Worst restaurant experience. I've never had to write a bad review but I guess there's a first time for everything. In short, it took forever for the food to come and when it did, both plates were freezing cold. One star is for the fish that my bf had but it would've tasted much better if it wasn't cold. My lobster pasta would've also tasted much better if it wasn't cold and didn't have HAIR in it. The waitress did not come to check up on us at all so we just sat there forever til she came and asked us if I wanted to box my food up. That's when I told her that I wouldn't want to because there's hair in there and both the plates were cold. She just took the plates and came back saying that she took the pasta off the bill. I've waitressed before and you have to do a lot more than just give a quick apology and give the check. I will never come back here again.

  • Nicole N.

This place is disgusting!! I saw the bar tender lick a knife that had whipped cream on it then cut bar fruit with it. And the owner of Epic is the bartender which is even worse. They smoke cigarettes in the kitchen where they prep the food I have photos of this. They have their employees work 10 and a half hours with no break and no over time pay. It is complete slave labor. Terrible place to give business to. Also they have their friends make false yelp reviews. When we got our first bad review the chef said "oh don't worry it will be gone in a few days my buddies are going to leave us some 5 star reviews."

    (1)
  • Neerja S.

This is my first time here with friends and I'm already loving it!!! The ambience is awesome, very cool torches everywhere in the outdoor patio which is luxurious, and the indoor seating area is fun, too. If you check-in, you get a free dessert, too! Service has been phenomenal - very attentive staff and the hostess (manager?) is so friendly! The cucumber Mojitos are indeed as amazing and delicious as other reviewers have noted. We came here after dinner for drinks and to check out the place for future visits and we will definitely come back here to try the food!!

Great place, with awesome happy hour deals!! They have bomb drinks and great appetizers that were all half off 5-7!! Beautiful restaurant, and love the outdoor seating!! The servers are so sweet and attentive!! One of my new favorite places to go for dinner!!!

Great place to hang out! Food was great! Me & the ladies ordered filet mignon panini and fresh ocean pasta. Excellent customer service! The live band is A+++. Will definitely come back! =)

    (5)
  • Kelly H.

The food was good but when the waiter gives you pricing for everything you order because you are a minority or because you are covered in tattoos or not dressed accordingly... It's really rude. Based on this experience, we will not be coming back here again. But why is it that white people with tattoos sitting next to us get better service than us?

    (1)
  • Patricia R.

This place was a disappointment. The only good thing was our appetizer, we ordered the stuffed mushrooms. Other than that everything was very very bland!! I ordered a filet mignon panini sandwich and my boyfriend ordered a burger. The cheese on both our meals wasn't even melted. There was absolutely no flavor in both meals. We didn't finish our meals. Such a shame to pay a good amount of money for such a mediocre meal. Not only was our food not good but we also waited a long time for it. We will definitely not be coming back. Save your money and go somewhere else! Trust me!!!

    (1)
  • Clara L.

The ambiance at Epic is very nice, very romantic! I haven't tried the food, but the best part about a Epic is their live band! You can really tell that that the band has the crowd's attention, as they are very talented. Service is great and friendly! This is a cute place to go on a date!!

We had Jen as our server and she was fabulous! The service at this place was wonderful. The band was a little too loud but they played well so I didn't pay much mind. The paninis are great would highly recommend those, but the burger was a little dry. We will definitely be returning to this place.

Went for dinner tonight, food was great, the music was great, wonderful atmosphere, the Epic salad is delicious. I had the seafood pasta, loved it, I couldn't finish it, because I ate all of the Epic salad. The waitress, Victoria is so sweet and very attentive. The cucumber mojito is really good. My husband had the rib eye, he said it was delicious as well great flavor. Will definitely be back. Great restaurant.

Friendly service. Great atmosphere. Charming decor and live music. I tried the epic kale salad, the epic burger, and the creme brûlée cheesecake. The salad is light, slightly salty and tangy. Very tasty. The burger is a nice blend of flavors and the truffle parmesan fries are delicious. The cheesecake with a brûlée top and Oreo crust is creamy and worth repeating.

    (4)
  • Scott K.

5stars for free cheesecake. They are pretty strict about entries, so be 'honest'. Halicia is sweet. The owner is overbearing. Vegetarian food was ok for a meat joint. Pretty empty on a sunday, but comfortable. Nice fire.

The sliders were to die for and the server was nice and readily available. The Moscow mule was atrocious- basically it was sprite. Do NOT order it. Lesson learned.

WHAT A TERRIFIC FIND! It's close to me and so good. The food and drinks are delicious. I had the bartender make me a drink and it was a champagne mixed with lemon and something else. PERFECT! I had a filet mingon panini that was perfect. Only the best ingredients. The service was great. Priscilla was the hostess and delightful. I can't wait to come back with my friends and listen to the jazz music that plays from 8:30PM on and try that puff pastry/chocolate desert Pricilla told me about. Go try Epic. It's cool and fabulous!

My husband and I had our 22nd Anniversary dinner @ Epic Bar and Lounge and the whole evening was magical. We were greeted by Priscilla, the hostess who made us feel welcomed and then our waiter arrived and he was wonderful, took a picture of us with his cellphone. NOW, FOR THE FOOD! THE CUISINE was created by Chef John Palmer and can I say that it was amazing. My husband had the pasta with ocean fish and I had the sea bass and we were in heaven. The mixologist was purfectamundo and the desert - cheesecake with a crème brule top to it - couldn't have been better. The music was just wonderful. We will be going back and will try the other items on the menu and well, what can I say - we will just have to think of things to celebrate at Epic!

It used to be a different place (Athenia) that I hated. Recently I noticed that it has a different name now, so today we decided to try it out. We didn't have a reservation, but we were seated in seconds. The place transformed a lot. Now it's very cozy and stylish here. They also have live music. Our server was extremely nice and very helpful. They have a pretty small menu, but it's even for better because you don't spend half an hour choosing what you want. Beer selection is amazing, they even have organic beers here! Most importantly, food is delicious.

We only had some cocktails and an appetizer (Moscow mules and calamari), but both were great and we definitely want to come back and try a lot of other things. Lots of variety on the menu and the service is just wonderful. Great music outside, live music inside. Will be back soon!

This restaurant/lounge is definitely one of its kind in the valley--the ambiance is charmingly European, the food is high quality deliciousness and the staff is exceptionally friendly and accommodating. And they have live music?!? What more can you really ask for??

  • Bill H.

this place is tasty. Appetizer of stiffed mushrooms... Perfect. Really great kale salad. Pasta. And the cheesecake was wonderful. Service is great. And the music is the best. Jazz jam session on Tuesdays. And I dropped in on a Thursday and caught a great Latin jazz trio. Two thumbs up.

    (5)
  • Yelps M.

Very mediocre. My wife and I ordered the epic salad w/ salmon and shared the burger. The food was edible at best, lacked flavor, totally bland. If you eat at a resturant named Epic, it should live up to its name. In this case, it did not.

Went here last night on the first date, the guy choose the place so I didn't know what to expect. But this place is truly beautiful and great atmosphere. We were greeted by the hostess who was a very nice person and very helpful, we where seated outside great seating with view of the street. Over all great food, staff and atmosphere really did help with the awkwardness of a first date, we had a great time and will be coming back for sure to try the rest of the items in the menu .

  • Kimberly W.

My boyfriend made a reservation for 8p. When we entered Epic we were impressed with the decor and the ambiance, but that is about where it ended. The hostess was surprisingly unprofessional. There were a few comments made that should have prompted my boyfriend and I to leave right away. We were seated on the round patio which is actually really beautiful. We wanted a bottle of wine, that wine was out. Okay I ordered just a glass of something else. We ordered the calamari (very bland but crispy) and the foccacia which was good but quite doughy..it looked like coffee cake. My boyfriend ordered the papardelle, I ordered the artichoke salad, which I was told they were out of.? How are you out of salad? I aked which ingredients were missing, it was the type of lettuce. I aked them just to use what they had. The salad was still missing an ingredient, but I was hungry! My boyfriend's pasta was overcooked and after expecting an Epic meal experience, I think they should change their name to Mediocre. We will not return.

I've been here a couple times. Once right after they opened during the week, and now In fall on a Saturday. The service was impeccable both times. They had live music inside both times as well. The patio was nice to sit on the weekend and offers good views, as it was a little quieter than the inside and the fire pit was nice. I really enjoyed the Wagyu beef sliders - delicious. Decent selection of beer and good selection of liquors and cocktails. This spot was much needed in the valley.

We decided to try Epic on Christmas Eve for the first time....unfortunately that was a mistake. My mom ordered the seafood pasta and sent it back as it tasted off. She didn't get her burger until the rest of us were done with dinner. 2 of us had salmon which was decent but the mashed potatoes it was served over were barely warm. They said they could accommodate the kids, and the don't know how to make their dishes kid friendly at all. Our waitress was sweet but the service was extremely slow and there were only two parties in the restaurant. We won't be heading back, and were disappointed .

Made it in time for their happy hour (5-7) and had some delicious margaritas... My friends really loved the mango and strawberry ones. Lovely place for drinks and appetizers in their very comfortable outdoor terrace next to a lovely firepit! Not much of a dessert person but must mention that the Creme Brûlée cheesecake was pretty delicious! Next time we will make it for dinner!

When this place opened, I didn't think I would try it. The name and the whole branding of it seemed dated, like, 2005. Epic is a hated internet word nowadays. I am glad that I went in and wasn't a snob about it. My daughter, a couple friends, and I were walking during the Sherman Oaks street fair and saw that they had a special. $5 Patron Margaritas. Although, we were not starving we decided to stop by and take advantage of the special. I have been to this location a couple of different times when it was a different establishment and have always sat outside, we were seated there. The ambiance outside was really nice and I loved the Jazz band. It was perfect weather We drank our margaritas which were delicious and had a couple appetizers. We tried some fries and a caprese salad that were both fine. I wish we would have tried an entree so I could get a real idea of the food. What this place has going for them is the outdoor patio. It is relaxing and comfortable and I can see a Sunday brunch being perfect for that. I will go again.

There is only one word that could describe this place....... AMAZING! I came with my sister and best friend on a thursday night. As we walked in we saw the DJ and automatically knew we had to stay! We were greeted with such friendly faces and escorted to our table. The decor was very classy and the ambience was great. The service was on point, this place was very attentive and we had to wait for nothing! I ordered the mojito and i have to say, considering i get a mojito everywhere i go, the mojito i tried here was the absolute BEST. The fried calamari was to die for and also the caprese salad. We loved their food because its organic and non gmo which is always a plus! Overall i absolutely fell in love with this place, we were listening to our favorite songs while eating great food and being in a fantastic environment. OH btw you have to try their cheesecake, melted in my mouth! I'm telling you AMAZING! There is live entertainment on friday, saturday and a dj on thursdsay. Also prices and very affordable for such a classy place. We had the pleasure of meeting the General Manager Albert, and must i say he was such a kind hearted and great man, it made our visit 100 times better. He made us feel very comfortable and we loved him! We will DEFINITELY be back, and i am determined to bring my whole family and friends to try this place. They will fall in love with it just as i did. You will be missing out if you do not try this place.

Service was excellent. My partner had the Chilean sea bass. Absolutely sensational. I myself had the bone in ribeye steak cooked medium, cooked to perfection. I highly recommend. Environment is nice, with courteous servers. Music was appropriate, dimly lit. It was truly "epic."

  • Cathy S.

What a great find! First of all, the food is organic, locally grown, and non GMO! The selections are great. The prices reasonable, the taste superb! Drinks as well, creative and made with great ingredients! Second, there's JAZZ! It's in the old "Spazio's" jazz club, upstairs, west of Van Nuys Blvd. Free parking in the back and under the building on weekdays. No cover for the jazz. I was there for "The Vocalists Roundtable" which is an intimate interview and performance of great jazz singers! This is such a unique evening of entertainment! for info on that jazz series, cathysegalgarcia.com

Went to Epic the other night with a party of 8, the lounge has a very high class feel to it but in a relaxed fashion. The service was excellent, the food was amazing. I had the melon salad with blue cheese and my wife had the epic salad, both delicious and enough to fill you up if your on a diet. The appetizers were excellent as well. Over all it is a great place to go with a large or small group. Highly recommend it!!

I've been to epic once before my recent visit and LOVED it. The waitress was so friendly and attentive, the drinks were yummy, and the food was delicious!! Butt...on my recent visit I learned that they changed their menu. I sampled a few items and the food just didn't compare. The dessert we got tasted like it came out of a box...definitely not fresh or made in house. I was reallly disappointed. The outside patio and firepit are really nice and cozy, and they'll bring you blankets if you're chilly. That gets two stars but that's about it.

This is where I want to have my birthday party!! The new EPIC Restaurant and Lounge is THE SPOT for drinks, live music, delicious food and The famous CREME Brûlée CHEESECAKE made with an OREO cookie crust and a sugar topping and raspberry glaze, that literally melts in your mouth- it is the original idea of the famous Chef John Palmer ! I ordered the sliders and fries - AMAZING! My friend ordered a Fresh Kale Salad which she ate every last bite!! The presentation with the food exceeded expectation. The service was OUTSTANDING, so we HAD to take a pic with our beautiful and EXTREMELY helpful server, Bianca!! The atmosphere is really trendy and they have an outdoor patio area with heat lamps. Our runner, Nick, was extremely on top of clearing and bringing our drinks, which were The best cucumber mint drinks I've ever had! This is BY FAR, going to become one of the most trendy and upscale lounges in the Valley!!

    (5)
  • Steven M.

First of all the service is weak af. It took a hour just to get my order taken. Took another 45 minutes to get the food. When I got my pasta it was dry and the noodles were hard. I've had better cup of noodles. Everybody at my table had to send their food back because it was horrible. The environment is alright, nothing special. You're better off going to Friday's or Chili's. EPIC FAIL!

Came here for a birthday celebration on a Sunday evening. It was not crowded at 6:00 pm but did get busier as the night went on. We sat outside on the lovely patio and ordered drinks under the happy hour time limit as well as a few appetizers. All was well. Our server Bianca was darling and we can only say wonderful things about her. We also met Priscella who was charming and new to town and was their live music coordinator. We ordered our main courses. I ordered the Salmon and it was good. I get Salmon all over town and insist it be cooked well done. So I have a lot of comparisons of well done salmon. This dish here at Epic would fall in the middle category for flavor but preparation was excellent. My friends ordered the Rib Eye. The menu states that it is Grass Fed Rib Eye. There are yelp reviewers here that have praised it. My friends said that the flavor was excellent but the consistency of the meat was extremely tough and hard to chew. They told the server and she said it was because it was grass fed according to the chef. He came out shortly after and said he would be more than happy to make another for them. The second order came out and the taste was exactly same: flavor wonderful but consistency tough and hard to chew. We then went to the internet to check on the difference between grass fed and grain fed and got an education. FYI the cows are not even the same. One is grain fed Angus and the other is Grass Fed Brangus. There is totally a difference so before you spend a lot of money for a steak, please check out the difference as there is only one option for steak at the restaurant. The chef came back out and had a conversation with my friends who always bring home a doggy bag but passed this time. The chef was kind enough to not charge for the steak and even went over and above and sent out a piece of fabulous cheesecake for the birthday celebration gratis. I am looking forward to going back armed with this new information as the people working there are so nice and accommodating and they have a great line up of music coming up.

Decided to try Epic out based on all of the great reviews and the fact that it is so close to where I live. Welllllll I must say that I agree with the rants and raves on this place. Came on a Sunday afternoon/evening and it was very chill...the "drink man" V is great at what he does...had the mango margarita and before I knew it one quickly turned to 4. He frequently dropped by to check on us and made sure that we were satisfied with our drinks. Awesome service and very accommodating folks at this place. I'll definitely be back...especially now that I know they're starting live jazz on Tuesdays.

I stopped by for happy hour and Vee made the best cocktail! I don't rmember what it was but it was an attitude changer. I hear they have music 6 nights a week after 9pm so I will come to check that out. If you like sitting outside I just love their patio on a full harvest moon. I have heard that the ribeye is divine! I'll be back!

This was our first time at Epic and we loved every part of our experience. We ordered the Epic salad and the chicken panini and everything was delicious. The ambience at Epic is so classy and they have a beautiful outdoor seating area. We will definitely come back!

This is such a nice place. Went last night with my boyfriend and enjoyed the music, food and the atmosphere. They had live jazz that was the perfect background music inside while playing nice music outside. We were able to have a nice conversation at our table and the ambiance was so relaxing. The cushiony chair/lounge seating was sooo comfortable. The gin and tonic drinks were good - not too strong or too mild. Started with the mushroom appetizer - yum! We had the Chilean sea bass which was so delicious and healthy it melted in my mouth and as good as a Chilean sea bass at a top steak house that I have had. Was a nice contrast as they served it on top of quinoa instead of the usual fattening mashed potatoes that other restaurants serve. I also tasted the fries that someone had at our table (trying to avoid deep fried foods but I couldn't resist - so yummy). Next time I want to try the Italian dessert with fresh strawberries :). Thanks Epic. See you soon

My first time visiting and I was just looking to catch some nice jazz music. The atmosphere was soft and relaxing with great live music terrific place for a date and the drinks were delicious. You must try the Italian Alexander.

Great patio. Feels like you have escaped LA and landed somewhere relaxing and beautiful on vacation. The wagyu sliders and truffle fries are amazing. The creme brûlée cheesecake is delicious!

The positives: We had the Fresh Ocean Pasta and Gamberoni Con Risotto which were very good. Dessert was just okay. Sangria was okay. Prosecco was good. (Creme brûlée Cheesecake and Italian Doughnuts) Very friendly and attentive service from our server Bianca. The negatives: The noise level of the live band was ridiculously excessive, to the point where we could barely hear each other over the music. We were literally shouting across the table! We kindly asked the hostess (twice) and bus boy once if they could kindly turn it down a few times, but it didn't seem to change. The band was treating it like a concert venue more than a restaurant. Also, they don't serve any bread. It would be nice to enjoy some bread and butter while waiting for our meals or as an option to order some on the side with dinner. Bianca was nice enough to bring over some brioche buns ($2) to enjoy with dinner. Overall it was an okay experience, and I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. Maybe a summer night on the outdoor patio where it's more quiet.
